KMi shines at SEMANTiCS 2024 conference

KMi is delighted to showcase its influential participation at SEMANTiCS 2024. Dr. Angelo Salatino and Dr. Francesco Osborne were actively involved in organizing the conference, a process that spanned the past eight months.

This year, SEMANTiCS celebrated its twentieth anniversary, taking place from 17th to 19th September in Amsterdam, at the stunning Meervaart theatre.

The SEMANTiCS conference is a renowned hub where technology professionals, industry leaders, and researchers meet to share insights on emerging technologies, innovations, and real-world applications in the realms of Linked Data and Semantic AI. This edition emphasised research into Neuro-Symbolic AI, a field that blends the strengths of neural network-based methods (e.g., handling large datasets) and symbolic AI (e.g., reasoning, explainability).

Dr. Angelo Salatino’s role as Research and Innovation Track Chair was pivotal. His leadership was instrumental in shaping the track and ensuring the quality of the presented contributions exceeded expectations.

Likewise, Dr. Francesco Osborne made a significant contribution by chairing the poster and demo sessions. His work facilitated presentations and fostered engaging discussions with attendees.

Dr. Salatino also presented a poster titled “Classifying Scientific Topic Relationships with SciBERT”, describing the team’s current research about automatic ontology generation.

SEMANTiCS 2024 was an excellent platform for KMi to showcase our dedication to advancing semantic technologies and to engage with the wider research community. We look forward to sharing more about the innovative work we presented and our future research directions!
