SKM3 at STI 2023

This week STI 2023 – the 27th International Conference on Science, Technology and Innovation Indicators – took place. The Scientometrics community from all around the world gathered in Leiden, Netherlands, to discuss about improving scholarly evaluation practices in the light of cultural change. The conference was organised by CWTS (Leiden University) in collaboration with the European Network of Indicator Developers (ENID).

From the SKM3 team, Dr Angelo Salatino attended the conference to present a research paper that investigates how the diversity of research fields within a research team affects the impact of their papers in Computer Science. In particular, the manuscript analyses 114K research articles and measures their impact by the number of citations they received in five years. The paper quantifies diversity of expertise in a research team through two different metrics. The results show that the diversity of expertise is significantly associated with the number of citations, suggesting that it is an important factor for scientific impact.
